One dead and three with injuries in New York car accident

On Behalf of | Nov 29, 2013 | Car Accidents

A car crash that occurred on the Bruckner expressway on Nov. 24 killed one man and left three others injured. A Toyota sedan had broken down close to 138th street, and two of its occupants, a 47-year old man and a 22-year old man, were outside of the vehicle checking on the car. According to the NYPD, a Honda was traveling on the freeway and struck both men. The 47-year-old was launched over a railing and onto the street below and was found dead on the scene.

The 22-year-old, was seriously injured and was rushed to a hospital nearby. Both the driver of the Honda and a third passenger of the Toyota were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Currently, no arrests have been made in the case, and it is still under investigation.

Serious injuries and death from a motor vehicle accident are painful for the victim and the family members of the afflicted. The loss of a loved one is especially hard to take in the case of wrongful death.

A wrongful death lawsuit may help provide victims and their families with compensation that may be able to make up for lost wages, hefty medical expenses, loss of companionship and even funeral expenses if they are awarded. A personal injury attorney may be able to asses a case and determine who was at fault and what types of damages may be recovered after an accident. They may also help families to file their claims and negotiate for the most possible compensation.
